Quick Tips on Using and Caring for Dab Tools and Accessories

New to concentrates or just want a quick refresher? Here's the basic process:

• Heat your banger with a torch until it's hot, then let it cool for 30-60 seconds. Low-temp dabs (350-450°F) preserve more flavor from the terpenes. Higher temps (500-600°F) make thicker clouds and obviously will be a lot more intense as far as effects go.
• Place a small amount of concentrate into the banger using a dab tool once it's cooled to your target temperature.
• Cover with a carb cap immediately to trap heat and direct airflow over the concentrate.
• Inhale slowly and steadily. Extracts vaporize differently than flower, so there's no need to pull hard.
• Swab the inside of the banger with a cotton swab while it's still warm. This prevents most buildup from ever hardening. It’ll make your life so much easier when it comes to cleaning.

Speaking of cleaning, the banger takes the most abuse and deserves the most attention. If residue does harden, soak the banger in isopropyl alcohol overnight, and it should come right off. 

The reclaim catcher needs emptying every few sessions depending on how heavily you dab - warm water and iso handle the rest. Glass components like mouthpieces and bases follow the same care routine as your flower setup: iso, coarse salt, shake, rinse. Our cleaning caps and universal plugs seal off openings so nothing spills while you shake.

Can I convert my VITAE bong into a dab rig?

What temperature should I heat my banger to?

Low-temp dabs around 350-450°F are smoother and more flavorful - perfect for beginners who don’t want to torch their lungs and end up in a coughing frenzy. Higher temps in the 500-600°F range produce bigger clouds but at the cost of taste (and maybe some enjoyment since they’re harsher). 

Let the banger cool after torching (30-60 seconds) and adjust from there based on what hits right for you. You’ll get in a good rhythm once you have some trial and error with timing and heat.

What's the difference between a banger and a nail?

A banger has a bucket-shaped dish that holds your concentrate. Traditional nails are flat or dome-style. Bangers are the standard because they're easier to load, hold heat more evenly, and pair better with carb caps for airflow control.

Do I need a reclaim catcher?

Not technically, but you'll notice the difference without one. Leftover concentrate drips into your water and coats the inside of the base. It’s so much harder to lean out than flower resin buildup. A reclaim catcher intercepts all of that and keeps things cleaner between sessions. It’s one of the dab accessories we honestly won’t go without.

How often should I clean my dab accessories?

Swab the banger after every single dab to prevent most problems. Empty the reclaim catcher when it starts filling up, usually every few sessions. Glass pieces can go longer between deep cleans, especially if the reclaim catcher is doing its job and keeping oil out of the water.
